In the neon-lit expanse of New Byzant’s Mega Port, 2025, Odessa hums with secrets. Here the sailing vessel Olbia—named for an ancient port and Iskra of Thessaloniki’s 14th-century escape—docks under amethyst skies, its captain Luna trading whispers of lost fragrances. At the water’s edge, a bar serves Japanese whisky, its doorway framed by neon lanterns shaped like Convallaria, their violet glow chasing back the shadows.
This is the den of Mishka, the Gangster King of Odessa, where clients slip through to a backroom housing the largest black market in the port. Vendors trade in phyto-synthetics, rare plants, and intoxicating extracts—Poppy, Yuzu, synthetic Ylang Ylang—under the gaze of cybernetic guards. The air is thick with Odessa, a scent reborn from Iskra’s vial: a bright, perilous dream of Lily of the Valley, deepened by Vanilla’s dark edge and Carnation’s spicy warmth, luring souls to their ruin in a city where history and futurism collide.
Mishka "the Japanese" reigns as the Gangster King of Odessa’s Mega Port, a figure forged in the collapse of the Soviet Union. His silver hair and cyber-enhanced Oni mask armour glow under neon lights, blending old-world Russian Empire elegance with futuristic menace. Exiled in youth, he returned steeped in Japanese honour, shaping Abandon Hope All Who Enter into a violet-lit fortress. Here, Convallaria lanterns cast deceptive warmth over black-market deals, his voice a commanding rumble. A protector of Odessa’s soul, he guards Luna fiercely, yet his rule teeters as New Byzant’s corporate shadows encroach, testing his empire’s fragile balance.
Odessa is a violet paradox, its neon-drenched Mega Port a labyrinth of Odessan alleys buzzing like a beehive. Outside, souls drift past the bar, its warm glow a deceptive lure drawing them into shadow. Beyond lies a warehouse alive with underworld energy. Vendors stand poised under a neon glow, showcasing surreal, elegant glass vials. These vials hold perfumes and extracts that bring dreams to life, filled with rare, fragrant botanicals smuggled from distant lands. Each scent carries a defiant vow, refusing to yield to the authorities who seek to restrict them, embodying the dark promise of Odessa’s illicit trade. Oil-slick waves lap outside, mirroring the amethyst skies, as drones oversee trades. This violet abyss weaves a noir tapestry, where gangster whispers and lost fragrances draw dreamers to ruin in Odessa’s shadowy, intoxicating embrace.
Yuzu and Poppy Flower
Yuzu: A piercing, bright citrus note that opens with a jolt of clarity, inspired by Mishka "the Japanese." His cyber-enhanced presence and old-world Russian Empire style infuse the scent with a bold, invigorating sharpness, like the neon glow of his bar, Abandon Hope.
Poppy Flower: An earthy floral that blooms with the soul of Slavic culture woven into Odessa’s history. Once a symbol of resilience, poppy now pulses as the black-market lifeblood of the Mega Port, its raw, narcotic edge echoing the tea-steeped traditions and pomegranate-rich cuisine of the region.
Lily of the Valley and Ylang Ylang
Lily of the Valley: A delicate yet potent floral that features heavily in the story, its gangster vibes echoing the Convallaria-shaped lanterns of Abandon Hope. This note carries the dark, seductive undercurrent of Odessa’s underworld, its sweetness masking a perilous edge.
Ylang Ylang: A rich, natural first-grade essential oil that replaces the synthetic variant, offering a creamy, exotic floral depth. Its lush aroma evokes the port’s trade in rare essences, and the city’s vibrant, living pulse.
Violet Leaf, Noir Vanilla, Carnation.
Violet Leaf: A green, slightly powdery note that adds an earthy sophistication, grounding the fragrance with the resilience of Odessa’s amethyst skies and oil-slick shores.
Noir Vanilla: A vanilla absolute that leans into the gourmand nature, infusing the scent with a warm, shadowy richness that complements the noir theme, as if distilled from the port’s hidden corners.
Carnation: A spice-like floral with a clove-tinged intensity, its dark velvety finish enhancing the fragrance’s unexpected noir character, a tribute to the perilous dreams traded in the shadows.
